A Place of Hope in Africa
Providing emergency housing and care for children in South Africa
Marv and Marie Bjorklund, partnered with TRC Ministries, operate Place of Hope Africa, a registered non-profit organization in South Africa.
Since 2004, Marv and Marie have been living in South Africa and have seen first-hand the need for emergency shelter for children caused by AIDS, neglect, poverty, alcohol, and abuse. Having previously lived in Minnesota, Marv and Marie now live full-time in South Africa and have been working to provide a home for these children.
“There is nothing like giving these children love, security, helping them overcome a traumatic situation they have been through, along with planting seeds in their hearts.”
Ministry Needs
At present, the most loving and practical need is for a home of their own. “Our current living arrangement is that we have a house in exchange for Marv being maintenance manager. At the age of 86, this is just becoming too much for him physically. His time would be much better spent in our own ministry.”
The majority of the funding for Place of Hope Africa comes through donations from the United States.
