Audio Bibles in Sri Lanka

Faith
Comes By
Hearing
In Sri Lanka

Since 2017, TRC Ministry Collective has partnered with indigenous church leaders in Sri Lanka to bring Scripture to communities in their own language and equip local believers to plant churches across this predominantly Buddhist nation. In a country where less than 10% of the population is Christian, we're investing in leaders who know their culture, speak the language, and are committed to bringing the Gospel to their own people.

Less than 10% of the population in this predominantly Buddhist country is Christian.
How It Started
In January 2017, Tory Bjorklund traveled to Sri Lanka as part of an evangelical team led by Chris Mikkelson. While there, he met Pastor Sathees Kumar, the church planting director who sits on the Assembly of God council overseeing all of Sri Lanka and leads several churches across the country.

That meeting sparked a partnership. By November 2017, the first audio Bibles from TRC Ministry Collective arrived in Sri Lanka. A small team—Tory Bjorklund, Janette Hoffman, and Sara Hoffman—carried 100 Proclaimer audio Bibles into the country in their suitcases, ready to put Scripture into the hands of people who had never heard it in their own language.

How It's Going
During that first trip, our team helped conduct Discovery Bible Study training for over 100 pastors and participated in prayer gatherings throughout the week. But more than just delivering Bibles, we're seeing God raise up dedicated Christians who are committed to bringing the Gospel to their own people.

We're working with Pastor Sathees and other indigenous leaders to equip local believers to share the Gospel and plant churches throughout Sri Lanka. These aren't foreign missionaries dropping in—they're Sri Lankans reaching Sri Lankans, using audio Bibles to overcome language and literacy barriers in communities that have never had access to Scripture.
Looking Forward
In a nation where Christianity represents less than 10% of the population, the harvest is vast and the workers are ready. There are countless villages still waiting to hear Scripture in their own language. There are church planters prepared to go but needing training and resources.

We're committed to standing with Pastor Sathees and indigenous believers for the long haul—providing audio Bibles, training, and support so they can bring transformation to their own communities. The Gospel is taking root in Sri Lanka through local leaders who will still be there in twenty years. This is Kingdom investment that multiplies for generations.
